The 8.8 Brace from Ferraro Speed Parts! Available in SN95, New Edge and S197 fitment. Provides more complete load distribution (full, 10 bolt coverage) than competing braces and leaves clearance for lower control arm relocation brackets.

Installation takes only 1 to 1.5 hours and can be done on jack stands. Suitable for drag racing or road racing, this simple, lightweight and strong, aluminum brace will strengthen your 8.8 axle without the expense of upgrading to a 9" rear end.

Installation notes (Complete instructions come with your kit):

Tools/supplies required:

  • 1/4 inch T-handle or hex bit.
  • 10MM hex bit (hex socket)
  • Gear oil pump. Like THIS one.
  • 2+ quarts 75w140 synthetic gear oil with limited slip additive.
  • Permatex black gasket maker (OEM requirement on late model 8.8)
  • Oil change pan
  • Brake cleaner
  • Razor blade or gasket remover tool
  • Blue Loctite

Lift the car on jack stands or on a 2 post lift. (Ramps or a 4 post lift will make access unnecessarily difficult). Allowing the suspension to remain unsprung gives better access to the rear cover.

Make sure there is more than 1/2" clearance from the differential cover to the panhard bar. This should not be an issue with the stock cover, even with an aftermarket bar, but some aftermarket covers may be a tight fit. Race car parts! Your mileage may vary.

If it's too tight, relocate the panhard bar or use the stock differential cover. Loosen the 10 differential bolts and drain the gear oil. Once drained, remove the stock cover.

Use brake cleaner and gasket remover blade to clean the cover. Hold the brace up and secure it loosely with one of the top bolts. Slide the cover in and make sure you have clearance to go between the gear and the panhard bar. If not, pop one of the brackets and temporarily move the panhard bar down.

Once the mating surfaces are cleaned with brake cleaner and wiped down (do this on the brace, too) per OEM specs, use black permatex/gasket maker and form a bead on both sides of the brace. Mock up the cover first, to make sure you cover the correct areas.

Apply gasket maker to the cover. Let stand for 3-5 minutes. Carefully raise the brace and line up the holes on the rear end, then slide the cover in on top, keeping the holes aligned.

Insert two bolts on opposite ends, then install and torque all bolts to OEM specs. Use loctite on the bolts and tighten with a 6mm t-handle or hex socket.

Once centered, torqued to spec and any remaining grease or gasket material has been cleaned up, bolt on the clamps using the provided hex cap screws. Torque them to approximately 50 ft lbs.

Refill the differential with gear oil.

Inspect for leaks, bolt the panhard back on (if removed), lower the car and let it sit cool for a couple hours. Take a short drive. Check for leaks again. Race with more confidence!
